The week that simply won’t end

Have you ever had a week that just doesn’t seem to want to end? I’ve had tons of days like that which is easy enough to handle.  But a very long week is totally different. It feels like it will simply never end. Well this week is one of them.  My workload at my mortgage paying job has increased in business.

Well the thought of a long weekend looming is making this never ending week more tolerable.  It just doesn’t quicken it. Darn!

So my question to you guys is what do you do when you feel like your week will never end.

Katrina, one year later

It’s scary to see how New Orleans and parts of Mississippi doesn’t seem to have changed all that much in the last 12 months since Katrina hit the region.  Now my impressions are those given to me by the media. So I could be wrong since I haven’t been to the region recently.

I’m not sure what I had expected, but something more than what is there today.  Maybe my expectations were too high.  I didn’t expect it to look as it did before Katrina but the devastation that remains break my heart.

The truth behind the illusion

I knew as I watched the tragedy take place in Mississippi and New Orleans from my dry home in Ottawa last year that there was so much more going on.  So many people died and lost loved ones and homes.  I’d had a lot of respect for those who didn’t just give their money but their time. Now I’m not talking about the stars that went down there for the publicity such a trip would create.  I know not all stars went to these regions in order to get their names out there, but a lot of them did.  I mean the volunteers who handed out essentials and food.

I watched a documentary last night about the Red Cross volunteers.  It was both sad and heart whelming.  These people were the salvation and often served the only meal some of the survivors got in a day.  If you didn’t get a chance to watch the documentary on TLC check to see when it’ll be replayed. It’s well worth watching.

Busy weekend

If I’d had a busy weekend that could explain why I haven’t blogged at all during that time, but it wasn’t.  I had a nice relaxing one.  A few writer friends of mine went out to celebrate the first sale of a friend of ours.  We had a blast!  It’ll be great going through the first with someone else (first book published, first good and bad reviews, and first signings).  We’ll be able to shoulder each other.

The one good thing with taking it easy this weekend is that I got a lot organized in my home. Not that I live in a pigsty but it does need to be cleaned out once in a while and since there is only me I’m the only one who can do that.

I did get some writing done, but not much. I wrote 2 pages today.  I ended up writing 12 pages last week which means I met my goal and I hope to do the same this week. So far I’ve been able to meet my goal each week since I imposed one on myself.

Here’s hoping I keep it up!

Introducing Tracy

Well I’ve had my best gal Tracy post her daily writing achievements along with myself. This way we become accountable to get our butts in the chair or explain why we haven’t.

Well I think Tracy should pipe and introduce herself.  There is a very good reason, she got some great news lately.

Tracy the floor is all yours.

Inspiring play

The play I went to see last night DRACULA ENTRE LA VIE ET LA MORT is of course in French. It was fabulous.  It featured well known Quebec singers such as Bruno Pelletier and Sylvain Cossette.  I could do a blog alone on Bruno’s perfect body.  He is so tone I swear you’d be hard pressed to find an ounce of fat on him.

The singing from all the actors blew me away.  I didn’t know much of Dracula’s tale. I know I must be living under a rock not to know it, but I’ve never been into the whole goth/horror books or movies. So I always skipped movies about Dracula

Did it inspire me to go and write a Dracula themed book? Nope. But it did get my writing juices flowing for my current work though. So I’ll be back to it tonight.

I’m truly glad I got a chance to see this play though. If you get a chance don’t let it pass you by. Go see it!

I met my weekly goal already

After a mini writing marathon yesterday I met my weekly writing goal and only in 3 days. Not bad if I do say so myself. I don’t know if I’ll be able to write today. My sister and I have tickets to go and see DRACULA a French musical with Bruno Pelletier and Sylvain Cossette. I may just surprise myself and write a few pages before going to the play.

My friend and I want to encourage each other to write and meet our individual writing goals. So we decided to log on and blog about the amount of pages we’ve done every day. I did this a few years ago when I started writing after a few years of not writing. So far I’m the only one entering but I’m sure she’ll be popping up soon.

My interest in Palm Reading

I have always been interested in palm reading.  I don’t know why.  I just have been. I can read tarot cards but not palms.  I know I’m not the only one who is interested in this medium.  If you go to http://www.xanga.com/Gojake you’ll get to read a palm reading.

I found it to be quite interesting.  Now I’m trying to figure out how I can include it in a book. I’m sure I can come up with something.

Summer adventures

Gorgeous days of summer are coming to an end. It’s nice and hot here in Ottawa, I wished it lasted a lot longer than it usually does. Soon the summer will be over and everyone will be returning to school. I know most parents are cheering this on and students dreading it. I used to dread it while I grew up. I wasn’t the best student.

So what have you done over the summer that made it a memorable one? For me it would be driving down to Atlanta this summer with two great gals. We had a blast driving and getting to know each other better. Nothing like being trapped in a car to do that. LOL

What was your summer adventure?

What to do with the books you’ve read

Although my TBR (to be read) pile of print books is huge. I plan on one day reading all the books. However I don’t know what to do with the ones that I have read.  At one time I thought I’d keep them and create a library. The only problem is that the house I was able to afford couldn’t accommodate a library.

Then I thought of bringing them to a used bookstore, but that means authors won’t make money off these books.  That’s not something I like to think about. Another solution would be to send or drop them off to libraries that don’t have funds to purchase books.  This way the Canadian authors who register for PLR (Public Lending Rights) can possibly get funds for those books.

As for my ebooks that’s easy. All I do there is delete them and move on.  I’m sure there are others out there who do it differently.

So what to you do with your read books?
