Well the new Sony ereader has made it appearance. Some of you have probably seen it already but for those who haven’t Make Magazine has a nice picture of it.  Here is the link

Now I’m still debating as to whether I want to get one or not.  I’d love to be able to carry more than one book with me at all time and not take up more room in my purse.  However I will have to wait and see how much this little “baby” is truly going to cost.

Reading habits

I’m such an anal reader. I have to read a series in order and I prefer to have all the books in the series before I’ll start reading it.  Yes I will wait the 5 years it takes to get the whole series before I’ll start the first one.  If I have to wait more than a few months for a title in the series I become a very unhappy camper.  You wouldn’t think so since I have such a large “to be read” pile of books, but it’s the anal reader in me.

So my question to you is do you read a series in order and wait for the whole series or do you read as you go and don’t care one way or another?

Slow day for inspiration

I should have written I’m having a lazy instead of slow. I started the week well by writing 3 pages.  However today I just couldn’t muster up enough energy to turn on my laptop.  So I’ll leave it until tomorrow.  I can’t write on Wednesday because I’ll be attending another opera. This time in english with a friend of mine at the NAC (National Art Centre).  She wants to get all dressed up I’ll have to see how I’m feeling. Dressing up isn’t always my thing.  I much prefer a good pair of jeans, t-shirt and sweatshirt/sweater in the fall.

However how often do I get to go to see an opera? Well except for twice in a month it was over 10 years. So I’d say that merits getting a little dressed up. I’ll have to see. I am looking forward to the performance I just hope I’ll be able to understand what they are saying.  The first opera I went to see was the Phantom of the Opera and they had a screen on the side of the stage with the words they were saying. Since this opera will be in a small stage I don’t think they’ll be doing that.  I’ll just have to muster my way through it.

Gread book

I don’t usually blog about the books I’ve read on this blog. I do that every Tuesday at Romance Readers http://www.romancereaders.com/wordpress/.  Well I just read a book that I couldn’t wait to blog about WANTING WHAT YOU GET by Kathy Love.  This book was better than I expected.  I had my doubts when I started to read it and found out the hero has an alcohol problem, but within the first chapter I was captivated. I could barely put the book down.  Mason is the good boy who’s now the mayor of the town they live in and Ellie is the quiet librarian.  On the outside they both look like great people but they hide a lot of hurt and problems.  Ellie doesn’t feel she’s worthy because of Mason’s affection because of her weight. She’s a size 14 who’s tried every diet imaginable to become a size 8.  While Mason deals with his problems in one way, by turning to the bottle.  Both have to battle their insecurities in order to find happiness, true love and happiness.

If any of you are in need of a great book go to Amazon and order a copy of WANTING WHAT YOU GET by Kathy Love.  You won’t regret it. I certainly didn’t.

Squeaking by on meeting my weekly goal

I barely made my weekly goal today.  I squeaked by with 10 pages.  I don’t know why but I’m just not that into my writing. I’m hoping that will change next week. I still like my story and want to see it to the end but I’m just not as enthusiastic about getting my butt in that chair as I once was.

Here’s hoping next week is better!

Favourite authors

Yesterday’s blog made think of favourite authors.  I have a lot of favourite authors. If you have entertained me with your book you get on my favourite author list.  However I do have an exclusive all time favourite author list.  That one is more selective.

My favourite author is Lucy Maud Montgomery.  She wrote the Anne of Green Gable series among others.  She is the true reason I got into reading.  After seeing the Anne of Green Gable movie with Megan Follows I started reading every book she’s ever published.

As for a favourite author that is still alive that would go to Hannah Howell.  I just positively LOVE her Highland series.  I still say Highland Warrior, Fiona’s story – closely followed by Highland Bride, Gillyanne’s story. Her dialogue is always quick witted and her characters come alive.

So who is your all time favourite author?

Favorite all time book

There are some books you read over the course of your life that you just remember.  I’m a big fan of Anne of Green Gable series. I’ve read everything that L M Montgomery has published over the years.  My favourite book of the series is the series, Rilla of Ingleside.

However if I had to pick one book that I’ve read over the years as being my all time favourite it wouldn’t one of the Anne series but that of Barbara Delinsky THREE WISHES.  Now this isn’t a typical romance but the ending (which I won’t reveal) couldn’t be but the one Ms Delinsky wrote.  A cousin of mine recommended this book a few years ago and boy am I ever glad she did.

So my question to you is what’s your favourite all time book?

Nice little addictions

I have a confession to make, I have two addictions.  The first one is cookies.  I love my cookies. I don’t really care what kind they are.  If there are cookies around me they don’t last all that long.  My second addiction is Canadian Idol.  I just love that show.  I’ve watched some of the American version and have to say other than the Clay/Ruben season I’ve found myself loosing interest.  I didn’t watch any of this year’s show of American Idol.  Canadian Idol is completely different though. I have watched every season and voted more times than I can remember.  I feel bad for the signers as they get voted off each week.  Although I know they’ll be releasing an album within a year’s time it’s still hard to see them go.

This is a little different. Why? Well a local girl (Eva Avila from Gatineau) has made it all the way to the finals.  I’ll be routing for her come Monday and Sunday (result night).

So what is your addictions?

Saying goodbye

I’ve always wondered why people waited until after someone was dead to let them know how much they meant to them.  It’s sad to see “Crocodile Hunter” pass away.  He impacted and educated a lot of people in the world.  It’s just too bad people are coming forward now to pay tribute to him instead of doing it while he still lived.  This isn’t the first time and I’m sure it won’t be the last one either.

I’ve always wondered at the logic in the increase of the price of a painting once the artist dies.  It means the collection is limited and becomes rare but the artist who created the painting doesn’t get to benefit from it.  His ancestors do.
