Happy Halloween!

So did you get disguised today?  I didn’t. Actually I haven’t put on a costume since I turned 13 years old.  I like costumes but not the ones where the faces are hidden.  I don’t mind makeup but not the masks and such things.  I don’t know why I just never liked it.  Let me put it this way, if I can’t see your whole face keep on walking because if you don’t I will.  I can be such a chicken at times.  LOL

I hope everyone enjoys themselves tonight whether it’s going door to door with their friends, child or answers the door.  Just remember to be safe!

Between helping a friend sell pumpkins on Saturday and make apple pies with my mother on Sunday I had quite a busy weekend.  We didn’t sell a lot of pumpkins on Saturday because the weather really wasn’t good for pumpkin picking.  Sunday we spent 4 hours in the kitchen making apple pies.  We ended up making 15 pies. I took 2 home with me (I have a very small freezer) and my parents kept the rest in their freezer.

As for writing this weekend I didn’t get much done. I did meet my goal last week.  I’m not sure if I’ll be meeting it this week. I only wrote 1 page yesterday and will be away Friday until Sunday.  That leaves me with little time to meet my goal, but I’m going to try my best to reach it.

Well it’s a yucky rainy day here in Ottawa. I’m at my friend’s place right now trying to sell pumpkins. As you can imagine we are spending more time in doors than we are outdoors. Not that many people are out hunting for a great pumpkin in the rain.

I made my weekly writing goal again. That makes it twice in two weeks. I sure I keep it up for another few weeks. I don’t know how many pages I’ll be doing during the Christmas season.

So do you have a Halloween party this weekend?  Well I don’t but I’ll be helping a friend of mine who owns a vegetable stand selling pumpkins.  I did this last year and had fun. So I’m hoping for the same kind of fun this year.

I have to confess I haven’t gotten dressed up for Halloween for about twenty years.  I know there are adults who get dressed the day of Halloween, but I’m not one of them. I do however plan on handing out candy this year.  I’ll be heading out to my local store today to purchase nut free candy from Nelson.  Why do I get those?  My sister is deadly allergic to nuts. I remember having to trade candy with her because she couldn’t eat most of the loot she got.  There are more children nowadays who have the same allergy and want to give them something they can eat.

I completely forgot to blog yesterday.  I don’t’ know why that happened it simply did.  Maybe it’s because I didn’t have anything true to blog about.

Did any of you watch Oprah yesterday to see Madonna?  I didn’t get a chance to watch it because I get home from work too late.  I did read a nice article on CNN about Madonna and other stars who have adopted children from other countries.  http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/TV/10/25/madonna.oprah.ap/index.html.  Personally I’m all for parents offering a healthy and loving environment to a child (of any nation) in need.  Let’s face it isn’t that’s what truly matters, giving a child a chance at a better life? I would think so.

As for my writing I went out last night to celebrate a friend’s birthday so I didn’t write at all.  I’m hoping to get back in the groove tonight and write 2 pages.

It’s been a while but I’m happy to say that I met last week’s writing goal.  I’d stated giving up hope that I would ever hit it again.  Then Friday I was inspired and wrote over 5 pages.  I got a great start to this week by writing 2 pages yesterday. As for today I’m not sure I’ll be able to write anything since I’ll be heading out to dinner to celebrate a friend’s birthday.

I have heard from our very own Morag this weekend.  She and her family are doing great and didn’t suffer any damage from the earthquake that hit Hawaii earlier this month.

AMERICAN TITLE III hosted by Romantic Times (RTBOOKClub) has started up again.  Last year they had one Canadian author. However this year they have two. On a personal note it’s time to raise a glass, a first, a cheer of joy or all of the above for Greg (Tracy’s husband) who is going through the motions of his last day at his current job.  He’ll be starting his dream job first thing Monday morning.  Alright Greg !!!

I can’t believe its Thursday already. Where has the week gone? It seemed only yesterday it was Monday.  I’m complaining really, because tonight’s UGLY BETTY night.  I’m going to use that as a way to get my butt in front of my computer and write for a while. So no writing no Ugly Betty!  Now if that’s not a great incentive for me I don’t know what else would be.

What kind of excuses have you used not to get you butt in the chair and write?  I have to admit I used so many over the years that I can’t remember most of them.  My favourite is that I don’t have time. Well that’s crap (for me), I just need to make time.  Another one I use a lot is I’m not in the mood.  For that one I don’t really have a comeback. If I’m not in the mood then what’s the point in writing?  I’ll just come to hate writing if I force it too much, but if I don’t push myself I’ll just get lazy.

That being said I did get my butt in the chair yesterday and wrote two more pages.
