Excuses used not to write
What kind of excuses have you used not to get you butt in the chair and write? I have to admit I used so many over the years that I can’t remember most of them. My favourite is that I don’t have time. Well that’s crap (for me), I just need to make time. Another one I use a lot is I’m not in the mood. For that one I don’t really have a comeback. If I’m not in the mood then what’s the point in writing? I’ll just come to hate writing if I force it too much, but if I don’t push myself I’ll just get lazy.
That being said I did get my butt in the chair yesterday and wrote two more pages.
So what are your excuses for not writing? Let’s hear them.

“Not in the mood” describes mine. It’s partially because I write historicals set in Victorian England and, for me personally, I need to be in that zone. During the week, I find it difficult to get into the flow after working late at my day job. I think that’s why I work best if at my computer for a day or two on the weekend churning out 20-50 pages in one sitting. I immerse myself in that world and lose myself in it a bit.

See after two pages I’m itching to walk away. When that happens on the weekend I leave the computer on and will eventually come back to write a few more pages and go away again.
