Day two of my Quebec city adventure

Quebec is such an old and beautiful city. I wish I had brought a camera with me.  We’ve had wonderful weather the whole time we’ve had off.  The food is fabulous.  The only downfall is that my allergies have peaked here.  We went out walking tonight and within minutes I was out of breath.  That’s really embarrassing for a runner.  Tomorrow a few of us are getting up early to go for a run in the Plaines D’Abraham.  I can’t wait. I’m sure I’ll have tons to tell you about tomorrow.

Day one of my Quebec adventure

As I sit here in my hotel room in the beautiful hotel, Le Capitol I’m happy today is over.  My room isn’t big but it has tons of character and it’s beautiful. They created a dark sky kind of feeling on the ceiling. It’s painted in a dark blue with swirls of white clouds.  Would I want it in my house? Nope.
Tomorrow is another long day of meetings, but the group I’m with is planning to go out to a restaurant called Ancient Canadian where they serve meals done with old Canadian recipes. I can’t wait.

I’m on the go

Well I’m off for an adventure of sorts. I’m off to Quebec City.  No I’m not going there for a vacation but for my mortgage paying job.  We have a meeting about the area code 418 and is in jeopardy.  I’m going there as the bilingual member of my team. So I just get to sit back, listen and translate if needed.  The harder part will be to stay awake because these meetings can be low on the excitement level.  Then again it just might be exciting after all.

What do I plan on to do while I’m there? I don’t have much time to tour the city, but I’m definitely going to hit the town for the beautiful restaurants and sports bars tonight and Wednesday night for certain. Can’t miss the Sens game tonight.

I’ll try and blog while I’m doing there but I can’t make any promises due to possible internet access limitation

Sens Rally

I just got back from a rally in town for the Ottawa Senators. It was amazing to see so many people all at one place. I’m not sure how many we were.  However I didn’t get to stay long since my lunch hour is only 30 minutes.  I’m sure there were some speeches and cheering, but while we were there they had a local band (I don’t know who they were) trying to get the crowd to say Go Sens Go but not that many got into it. I’m sure once they got a few radio DJs that changed. It’s nice to see so many people support a local team so well.

Did you know that it’s been over 80 years since Ottawa Senators won the cup?  They won it in 1927 and later that year the team folded.  They came back to life with the expansion of the NHL in 1992.  It has taken 15 good years to get here but we are proud of our team for getting us this far.

Here’s hoping the cup comes home again.

The Starter Wife

This is one time I wished I lived or had access to US network stations without paying through the nose. Yep I’m on a budget, my new bathroom won’t pay for itself.  I just read about a new six hour long mini series called THE STARTER LIFE with Debrah Messing (I so loved her in Will and Grace).  This mini series is based on the book of the same name by Gigi Levangie Grazer.

What is the show about? Well it’s about a wiife’s journey after divorce.  She’s not your ordinary wife. Her ex-husband is a movie executive and getting divorsed from him is life altering for her.  You’ll see her stuggle, survive and grow. You can catch it on the USA network in the US as for Canada I don’t think any of the network have agreed to carry it. I could be wrong (boy am I ever praying that I am). I sure hope they release this one on video soon.

Summer movies have started

Summer movies have officially started this past weekend.  Well at least in Canada it has since we had yesterday off.  It was Victoria Day.

Do you plan to go to the movies over the summer?  I am.  Now I know most of you will be saying “you bet’ and plan to go and see the big blockbusters like Shrek, Harry Potter or Pirates of the Caribbean III.  What about the small independent or sleeper/surprised movies?  Personally I’m looking forward to the sleeper/surprised movies.  I’m not sure what they’ll be this summer.  If you know some please share.

I‘m not usually a hockey fan.  However I always support my local team, the Ottawa Senators.  So for the first time since the team came back to life in 1992 and since our last trip to the Stanley Cup finals in 1927 (where we won the cup), The Ottawa Senators have made the finals.

I’d love to say I’ll be going to the games live. The thing is that our stadium isn’t downtown like most cities. Ours is outside of town, on the other side of the city.  It’s about an hours drive from my home.  The second obstacle to me going to a game is the price of a ticket. I can just bet the tickets are going to be astronomical and with scheduled trips to Dallas and Halifax in the next few months I can’t afford them.

However I will be listening or watching them on TV and cheering them on.

Who will you be cheering during the Stanley Cup finals?

GO SENS GO!!!

Fall line up

Well I have to agree with Lauren Graham they ended Gilmore Girls series perfectly.  It was done in typical Gilmore style with funny dialogue and heart wrenching events.  The best was that we were left with the impression that Luke and Lorali would get back together.  It also ended the same way the series started 7 years ago, in Luke’s Diner.  I’m really going to miss the fresh and quick witted dialogue that this show had.

This week all the US stations are letting us know what they have lined up for next year. They are cancelling a lot of great shows like CROSSING JORDAN and shock of all shockers JERICHO.  I really liked both shows.   However I’m happy to hear that UGLY BETTY, MEN IN TREES and GHOST WHISPERERS were renewed for another year. YEAH!!!

Which cancelled or renewed show has surprised you the most?

Saying goodbye Gilmore style

I’ll be celebrating the last Gilmore Girl show in style, Gilmore Girl style that is. What does that mean? Well it means eating tons of junk food and coffee.  I’ll have to make a small adjustment because I can’t stand the taste of smell of coffee.  I’ll be drinking caffeine filled tea instead.

My trainer isn’t going to be happy but he’ll just have to deal with it.  It’s not every day that this wonderful show will come to an end. Speaking of endings did any of you watch the series finale of King of Queens? I meant to but only caught the last few minutes when they did a montage of the past ten or so years the shows been on the air.

So what did you do for your mother yesterday?  I had my family over for a brunch.  I spent Saturday getting all the food ready.  My plan was to clean my house and prepare everything on Saturday so all I had to do was put the food in the oven to cook.  As usual things didn’t go as planned.  They never seem to for me.  I didn’t finish preparing the food until nearly midnight.  I had to get up early on Sunday to clean my house.   We had a great time.

Well it’s finale week on TV.  Do you have your whole week planned?  The only show I have planned so far is Gilmore Girls.  What show are you planning on watching?
