Shopping Day

Well today was a shopping day.  My wardrobe is in dire needs to be replenished. I went through it last week and put clothes that no longer fit (too big) in a garbage bag to give to Sally Ann (Salvation Army).  The only problem I had was the limited funds for this Endeavour.  I looked at my finances yesterday and realized that my bathroom repairs and vacation were drained my financer.  However I went out with my Mother today with a budget of $150. Well I blew that budget and spent a little over $200 instead.

I usually hate shopping because I try on clothes and feel so deformed because I’m not your typical shape. However after loosing a few pounds and some inches (hopefully, I’ll know more on Thursday after my final weigh and measurement session) I didn’t let it bother me. I had a great day!

Although I went over budget, I have to say I did get some nice clothes that I’ve already packed for my

Houston trip.  I can’t believe we are leaving in less than a week, 6 days to be exact.

I can hardly wait!

Did you miss me? LOL You probably didn’t even notice that the site was down this past week.  Why was I down?  I had to change servers, but I wasn’t the only site my Webmistress had to change.  It was nice to have a little blogging time off.  However I’m rearing to go now!

Have a great long weekend!

Saturday afternoon at Chapters-Indigo

I had tea this afternoon at Chapters-Indigo with a fellow RWA chapter sister.  She’s planning on going to the RWA national conference for the first time this year and she had tons of questions.  She and her husband actually write as a team and she also writes on her own.  Well a large tea and 2 hours later we parted ways. I hope she felt better, she definitely sounded excited about the upcoming conference.

I can’t believe it’s coming up so soon though. I leave in less than 13 days. I have so much left to do but I can’t wait until I am on the plane going to Houston via short stop in Chicago. Miserably there are still no direct flights from Ottawa to Houston. I am planning on having a blast the whole 10 days I’m away.

Georgia Rule

As few of us went to see GEORGIA RULE last night.  Well for some unknown reason I thought the movie took place in Georgia. It doesn’t. It takes place in Idaho. The storyline was good but there were moments that slacked or lacked punch.  Jane Fonda was FABULOUS in the role of Georgia, Felicity Hoffman’s character was pretty good as well.  Lindsey Lohan’s character though I found flat.  She didn’t grow at all throughout the storyline which I found disappointing since her mother and grandmother did.  It would have been stronger if her character had grown at all. Actually I was quite disappointed in Lindsey’s performance as a whole in this movie. It seemed as though she was just going through the motions and doing it because she’d already been paid but didn’t care how it turned out.

Overall the movie was so so to good. In my opinion it’s a good rental or discount movie but not worth the full price.

Triskelion Publishing closes its doors

The romance writing world is all a buzz with the announcement that Triskelion Publishing will be closing their doors on July 2.  They posted the following notice on their website yesterday.

“Sadly, Triskelion Publishing will be closing its doors on July 2, 2007. We’d like to thank our readers for all their support and our authors for providing endless pleasure and memories that we will treasure forever.”
Rumours are running rampant about bankruptcy and such things.  I feel bad for all the authors whose books recently or were to be released soon.  Could you imagine your first book is about to hit the shelves only to realize that your dream has been dashed by the publisher closing.  Now they aren’t the first publisher to close their doors nor will they be the last one miserably.  It’s simply part of doing business.

Here’s hoping all Triskelion Publishing authors find a new publication home to realize their dreams.

Top 22 for Canadian Idol have been chosen

Well no one from the Ottawa region or even eastern Ontario made it to the top 22 at the Canadian Idol.  Did I watch the whole 1.5 hour show yesterday? No I did watch it off and on.  There were some talented singers among the no’s this year.  It was so hard to see some of their reactions, sad really. The show did something different this year they allowed singer to use their instruments while they auditioned and they could play their own songs as well. So the talent pool was HUGE.  I can’t wait until the real competition starts next week.  We get to vote for the top 10 as of next week or two and then the real competition starts. YEAH!!

Hey Mandy Moore fans did you know she had a new CD out today? I had no idea. I was surfing Amazon to see when Kelly Clarkson’s CD was to be released (by the way it’s coming out Jun 26 so we still have another week to gather our loonies and toonies to get it) when I fell upon WILD HOPE, Mandy’s new CD. I’m sampling it at Amazon. It sounds really good. I may just pick it up on my next trip to the record store.

So who’s CD are you looking forward to picking up this summer?

Weekend activities

I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  I babysat or I should say doggy sat my cousin’s 2 year old retriever.  Jingle is adorable.  I had her overnight Saturday.  The poor thing kept thinking she’d be picked up the same day. Every little noise had her going down the stairs, even in the middle of the night.  So I didn’t get all that much sleep that night.  However I did discover that I’m a dog person and would love to have a big dog once more, but not where I’m living now. My backyard is too small for a dog.  Some of my neighbours have dogs, I just want a bigger space and more time before I get one.

When I told my father this he told me to forget about it. I asked why.  He said with the amount of traveling I do he and my mother would be doggy sitting and he’s not interested. I bet he’d change his tune once I brought home a cute little puppy. However that won’t be any time soon since I can’t afford to move.

So what did you do this weekend? Go see any good movies?

Home repairs anyone?

I had planned on blogging about TV reruns but I’m so excited at the possibility that my bathroom will be done tonight that I changed my blog to home repairs.  So how many of you who own your home are currently or planning on repairing something in their home? I bet everyone or just about is raising their hands.  My current repairs are coming to a close, well close to it. I’ll be able to use my bathroom, newly revamped bathroom tonight. However no showers and I still need a new mirror and towel racks but other than that we are good to go. What do I have planned next? Well my house is 30 years old and starting to show its age.  I want to redo the floors on the main floor and redo my downstairs powder room.  First I need to save money for it.  I’m hoping to have enough savings by October-November to redo the bathroom and tile my small entryway and small kitchen.  Then do the rest next spring.

What are you doing or planning on doing in the near future?

Bitten - new clothing line by Sahar Jessica Parker

I’m sure by now most of you have heard about “Bitten” Sarah Jessica Parker’s new clothing line.  I watched her on Oprah and saw some of the clothes. What surprised is that it was clothes I would wear and they were in my price range.  The great part is that they go from small to plus sizes at the same price.  Not that many designers or clothing lines do that and those who do charge a lot more for the larger sizes.

My only problem is that the store who carries the line doesn’t have Canadian store. What about ordering online you ask? Well they aren’t selling the clothes online at least not that I can find.  That being said I’m thinking of doing a cross border trip 3 hours from my home to closest store and make it a girl’s weekend.

So have any of you tried or purchased any of the items from the new line?
