So far so good. I have been hard working on my edits. I have finished 2 Chapters so far. The best part is that I haven’t lost my temper once. Miracles do happen!

Today is going to be a little hard since it’s gorgeous outside. It’s the first sun shinning day we’ve had here in what seems like a very long time, but it’s only 2 weeks or so. I may work a few hours and then head on outside for a little sun.

How’s your weekend going so far?

My weekend plans

I am planning a quiet editing weekend at home. I want to get as many pages done of my edits that I presently have. My editor is still working on the last few chapters. Once she’s done it’ll be my turn to make them shine.

It’s suppose to rain and be miserable for most of the weekend so it won’t be much of a sacrifice for me.

What do you have planned for the weekend?

15 years later

On this day in 1993, so 15 years ago, Kim Campbell became Canada’s first female Prime Minister. She wasn’t elected by the Canadian populations. She was voted as head of her party, The Conservatives replacing Mr Mulroney who just happened to be Prime Minister at the time.  She was re-elected by us Canadians because her campaign was really bad. After 9 months she was replaced by Jean Chretien.

After remembering about Ms Campbell’s nomination win I started to think about where we are at the moment. It’s true we haven’t re-elected another female Prime Minister, but if you look at other counties like US they haven’t even elected a female President or even Vice President yet.

Does this mean we aren’t progress or championing women and their political careers? I don’t think so. We have quite a few women who have been elected. What do you think?

I am so excited I can barely keep my focus on work. Why? Well today I did my usual Amazon search on titles and decided to do one on my title, DEADLY SECRETS. Low and behold my title is up for pre-orders at Amazon.  Right on!

I can’t help but keep going to back to the page and stare at it. It’s finally coming true. It’s been a long wait, 2.5 years but worth it at this time.  I’m planning on getting my promo started. I want to raise as much funds for the fight against breast cancer as I can. So the earliest I start the more sales I’ll bring in.

Here are the link to my books page at Amazon (just in case you want to stare at it as well), Click Here

Anne of Green Gables turns 100 today!

3032495.jpg My favourite book of all times turns 100 years old today. Yep ANNE OF GREN GABLES was first published on June 20 1908. At first her publisher only printed a few thousand copies due to the fact that she was a first time author from a small town in PEI. I have included a picture of her first cover for the book.  Since then L M Montgomery wrote 7 sequels, had it translated in over 33 languages, countless movies have been made (my favourite one stars Megan Follows and Colleen Dewhurst), TV shows, musicals, plays, PEI has built an Anne of Green Gable house you can visit (been there and LOVED it). Did Ms Montgomery know her little book about an orphan called Anne would create such success? I bet she dreamed of it but never thought it would happen.

Growing up I wasn’t a reader. I prefer to be outside running and getting into trouble. However after watching Anne Of Green Gables the movie and visiting the house in PEI I fell in love with the character.  I bought all the books in the series and any other book Ms Montgomery ever wrote and devoured them all.  I even wrote a five page report about her in school. It was also at that time that I decided to put to paper the stories I had running around my little brain.  Yep I credit this wonderful Canadian author for my writing career.

I would take a little moment to celebrate the anniversary of this great book and raise a toast to the wonderful author who wrote it. Thank you Ms Montgomery for hours upon hours of reading enjoyment. I can’t wait to introduce your books to my young niece.

Well it’s been two and a half years since I first signed my contract with LBF Books. Since the ownership of the publisher has changed hands and my title has gone from a drag NUTS ABOUT YOU to a fantastic title DEADLY SECRETS. The new owner is even donating proceeds of the book along with me to further breast cancer research. This surprised me. I didn’t expect her to do it. We are working on getting sponsorships with the American Breast Cancer Foundation. Miserably we can’t meet the finantional that the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation requires.

Today I’m happy to say I have a COVER. Yeah!! Here it is

What do you think? I had a huge imput into it and love the result. Now I can only with romance readers and booksellers a like also love it. Why? Each sale increases the check I and LBF Books will be sending to Breast cancer research.

Maggie has been burned by love more than once. First she gets dumped by her high school boyfriend the day he comes home a baseball hero with his fiancé in toe. She gets jilted right in front of the whole town. Then she goes and falls for a gorgeous Irishman, who just happens to be her catholic priest. Yep she’s had her hard times finding true love, until she takes a second look at the town’s loner, Malone. Can she find true love a third time around?

I have to say I laughed and cried as I read this book. It was FABULOUS!  Ms Higgins sure knows how to capture and keep a readers vivid attention. There’s no wonder it’s nominated for a coveted RITA award. I also loved the cover. Who wouldn’t love that cute little puppy? Malone made for a great brooding hero. There were times when I wanted to tickle him to get a smile from him. While Maggie is perfect for him, there were times when I wanted to shake her and say “let go of the priest. He’s never going to leave the church for you”.  I can’t wait to get my hands on Ms Higgins August release, I’m sure it’ll be a winner as well.

Who would I recommend this book to? I’d recommend it to all readers. It’ll appeal to the romance reader along with those who prefer mainstream books. It’s just a perfect book.

Happy Father’s Day

It’s gorgeous day here in Ottawa. I spent all yesterday morning and day cleaning and cooking. I hosted our Father’s Day dinner last night. We had a blast. It was a long, but fun day.

I didn’t get any editing work done with a deadline looming over it’s getting hard to get motivated. You’d think my release date that is creeping up would do it but it isn’t. I got a few pages done this afternoon but all I want to do is relax and enjoy the beautiful day. I’ve decided to close the computer for a few hours, go and enjoy the beautiful weather and then come back to do a few more pages of editing.

MANHUNTING is a good entertaining read. I have read a few other titles by this wonderful author and had high expectation for this one and every single of them were met. I identified with Kate, she’s me as a blonde. LOL I am such a planner when it comes to my life. I like to be organized just like Kate. There were so many laugh out loud incidents in this book that you can’t but love the author for it. As for the hero, Jake I couldn’t wait until Kate got a hold of him and shook some sense into him.

If you want to laugh and have a great time reading, pick up a copy of MANHUNTING. You won’t regret it I swear.

Trying to keep it cool

I don’t know how hot it is where you are but here in Ottawa it is really hot.  At 7 am it was over 20 C without humidity, it’s now 31C with humidity.  I love the sunshine of summer days like this but humidity is the killer. Not only can I not go for a run because it’s too hot but it makes me wish for an Air Conditioner.  Yep you read that right I don’t have AC. So I take a lot of freezing showers and drink tons. As for workouts they are taking place inside my gym.

As for this past weekend I spent it trying to keep cool and working on my edits. I’m starting to make some headway in them. I’m almost halfway through them. I am also making arrangements with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and the American Breast Cancer Foundation with my publisher. We are donating proceeds from the sales of DEADLY SECRETS to both organization. We want their permission to post their logo on the back of the book and the pink ribbon on the spine.

Keep your fingers crossed that they say YES
