Meeting my Goals - Writing Goals

So far so good. I have been able to meet my weekly goal of 2 pages set up as my publisher prefers (single page). However there have been a few weeks where it was a close call. You’d think that writing so little shouldn’t be so hard to meet, but working 2 jobs that are full time has a way to stealing time you didn’t know were gone.

That said I am close to ¼ of the way through my book. I am truly enjoying writing again. I feared that I wouldn’t. I am hoping to get some writing done over the holiday but I’m not sure how much.

I know I’ll get tons written during my writers retreat in Connecticut. I’m also going to keep up working on one of my 2 jobs, but for the most part I’m hoping to pass the halfway point in my book.  Then I’ll be on track to meet my deadline.

I met my weekly writing goal

Even though I travelled for a good part of last week I was able to meet my writing goal, barely. I wrote 2.5 pages last week. I’m hoping to do better this week since I’ll be home for now. I’m not planning any trips until next year.

This past weekend I learned more from my fellow authors in the business than get inspired to write, but you can’t always be inspired to write.

I met my first Writing Goals - Barely

I have to say meeting my writing goal last week wasn’t easy. I might not have to write a lot but I do work on average 80 hours a week. So writing has to be done when I’m not working or sleeping. Let’s just say that my keyboard has a few crumbs on it right now. LOL.

That said I am proud to say that I completed my challenge last week and wrote 2 pages, barely. The best part is that I have already written 1.5 pages and I’m just starting this week. I’ll be traveling later on this week to attend a conference where I’ll be speaking about being published with a small publisher. So I need to write my pages now to make the goal.

Here’s hoping I meet and beat my goal this week!

My Writing Challenge/Goals

This week I met up with my first romance writing critique partner. She is also getting back into writing. We agreed that we needed something or someone to get us going and keep us going. I remembered taking part in a writing goal contest of sorts with ORWA a few years ago. Actually a lot of years ago. We both agreed an updated version would be perfect for us.

So what are our goals? Well this week Sue has to write up a premise for a new story. We brainstormed about one over dinner on Tuesday and then she’ll move on to write at least 1 page a week. I however will write 2 pages a week. I know it seems rather low but I do have a busy and tight schedule right now. So committing to 2 pages a week is doable for me and might at times be a bit of a challenge. But I’ve always loved a good challenge.

What will be the consequences if we don’t meet our goals? Well we’ll both owe $1 per page that we didn’t submit weekly. At the end of each month we’ll donate the money to a charity. It might change every other month.

Have I met my goal for this week yet? Not yet. I’m halfway there. I’m hoping to get another page in tomorrow or even Saturday night.
